Skims has officially opened its first flagship store in Chicago, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s physical retail expansion. The luxury brand, which recently completed a $225 million funding round, is utilizing the proceeds to accelerate the growth of its brick-and-mortar locations.

Skims Expands Presence with Chicago Flagship

Located in Chicago’s prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood, the 6,500-square-foot flagship store occupies a former 1960s bank building. This prime retail space is surrounded by high-end retailers like Christian Louboutin, Harry Winston, and Prada.

The store showcases both women’s and men’s products across categories like underwear, shapewear, and loungewear. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the store is offering exclusive seasonal products, including loungewear sets and slippers.

Exclusive In-Store Offers and Immersive Experiences

The Chicago flagship store is designed to offer a complete Skims experience. “We’re excited to deliver exclusive in-store offers and create memorable experiences for our customers,” said Jens Grede, co-founder and CEO of Skims. Customers can virtually queue for the dressing room line by scanning a QR code, allowing for a seamless shopping experience.

The store will also feature limited-edition drops, including the NikeSkims collection, throughout the year, ensuring that shoppers always find something new and exclusive.

Skims’ Strategic Move into Key Markets

“We’re thrilled to introduce Skims to the city, inviting the community into a space that pays homage to Chicago’s architectural heritage,” said Kim Kardashian, co-founder and chief creative officer of Skims. “This flagship highlights our signature design language, immersive experiences, and the complete assortment in person.”

Skims has experienced significant growth in recent years, with its first permanent location opening in Washington, D.C., less than two years ago. Today, the brand has flagship stores in Los Angeles and New York, as well as an international presence in Mexico and Dubai. Skims plans to continue expanding into key markets this year.

In addition to expanding its physical retail footprint, Skims launched a men’s line in 2023 and introduced a joint venture with Nike last fall. Skims is also consolidating its beauty and lifestyle ventures under one brand, following Coty’s sale of its 20% stake in Sknn by Kim to Skims last year.

As Skims continues to evolve, its Chicago flagship is a key part of the brand’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the competitive retail market.
