Supergoop has appointed Lauren Weinberg as its new chief marketing officer (CMO), continuing the brand’s growth and expansion. Weinberg’s appointment follows Supergoop’s announcement of Melis del Rey as the new CEO in November. While Weinberg brings decades of marketing experience, Supergoop marks a new chapter in her career, stepping into the beauty and skincare industry.

“I was deliberate about what came next in my career,” Weinberg shared in a LinkedIn post. She expressed excitement about learning something new and shared that she’s thrived in unfamiliar industries. “I’ve gone from media to fintech to fitness, and I’ve found that moving into unfamiliar territory is where I do my best work,” she added. Now, in her new role at Supergoop, Weinberg is overseeing both marketing and product innovation.

Weinberg’s Extensive Marketing Background

Before joining Supergoop, Weinberg had an extensive career in marketing. She has held leadership roles at Square, Yahoo, MTV, and AOL. Her vast experience in different industries has equipped her with the skills to innovate and drive growth. However, beauty and skincare represent a new frontier for her, and she’s eager to bring her marketing expertise to this fresh category.

Del Rey praised Weinberg’s leadership, calling her “a world-class marketing leader with a rare ability to balance creativity, performance, and operational rigor.” She added that Weinberg’s role would be pivotal in strengthening Supergoop’s brand and driving consumer engagement as the brand grows.

Supergoop’s Growth Strategy

Supergoop’s expansion has been accelerating since Blackstone Growth acquired a majority stake in the company in late 2021. The skincare brand has seen increased visibility, particularly with its recent addition to Target’s beauty offerings. As Target separates from Ulta Beauty and Ulta exits its shop-in-shop partnership with the retailer this August, Supergoop stands poised to attract millions of new consumers.

Weinberg’s leadership will be essential in deepening Supergoop’s connection with consumers, expanding its reach, and fueling long-term demand for SPF as a daily ritual.
